Washington: In a statement, the White house has condemned the crackdown of Egyptian military, in which more than 80 Muslim brotherhood protestors were gunned down in Cairo, but took no immediate steps to suspend US military assistance to Egypt, reported Reuters.

Josh Earnest, White House spokesman, said the crackdown sets back the process of democratization in Egypt and does not square with the interim government's pledge to swiftly return to civilian rule.

Answering the question on the suspension of the aid to Egypt's military, Earnest said: "I don't have any change in our posture to report to you today."
