PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Islamabad : The PML'N' candidate Mr Mamnoon Hussain has been elected the 12th president of Pakistan by Parliament and provincial assemblies.

Pakistan People's Party, which is main opposition party of Pakistan, boycotts the presidential election on timetable issue which, by their view, was illegally set by Supreme court not by Election Commission of Pakistan.
According to official electoral results, Mamnoon Hussain secured 432 votes from Electoral colleges of Parliament, Sindh, Punjab, Pakhtonkhwa, Baluchistan, and Gilgit Biltistan assemblies while his opponent PTI's candidate, Justice (Rtd) Wajihuddin secured 77 votes.

Mamnoon Hussain belongs to coastal city of Karachi, the Indian news paper "The Hindu" headline the story as,  “India-born Mamnoon Hussain elected Pakistan President”

Pakistan's current President Asif Zardari is to leave his post on 8th September by the constitution.
