Cairo: The Egyptian has summoned Turkey's Ambassador over Turkish officials' latest remarks on Egypt's situation, official MENA news agency reported.
The ambassador was summoned due to Turkish statements which " exceeded all diplomatic norms and the common respect among countries," MENA said, quoting a senior Foreign Ministry official.
Awni was told that Turkey should "prioritize" the common interests of both states and go beyond the limited partial interests.
On the other hand, MENA denied earlier reports that Turkey had frozen some agreements and protocols with Egypt.
It is the second time within a month that Awni is summoned. On July 9, he was summoned due to some Turkish officials' statements after the ouster of Egypt's Islamist-oriented President Mohamed Morsi that was considered by Cairo as "intervention" in its internal affairs.
Turkey considers the overthrow of Mohammad Morsi on July 3 a "coup" against democracy.
