PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Rights of millions of people linked to elections, says SC

  Supreme Court’s Justice Munib Akhtar said on Tuesday that the rights of millions of people in the country were linked to elections and stressed that the public interest was in holding polls within 90 days.  “The rights of the people of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are connected to elections,” he remarked.  The judge passed these remarks as a three-member bench heard the Election Commission of Pakistan’s petition asking the top court to revisit its April 4 order of holding polls to the Punjab Assembly on May 14.  The bench hearing the plea comprised Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and Justices Ijazul Ahsan and Akhtar, the same bench that had issued the order for holding elections in Punjab on May 14.  During the previous hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial had expressed hope that talks between the coalition government and the PTI could end the stalemate on holding polls in the country.  The hearing At the outset of the hearing today, ECP lawyer Sajeel

Court not satisfied with Imran Khan Answer

  Imran Khan said he used word "shameful" for presiding officers not Judiciary Islamabad: Supreme court, while hearing the contempt of the court against Imran Khan, stated that it is not fully satisfied, and called the answer as "Insufficient " response. The court has further directed former cricketer turned into politician, to submit his detailed answer on 28 of August.

  Imran Khan criticized the role of Election Commission and supreme court in recent polls rigging Islamabad : Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a contempt of court notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan for his remarks against the court in his July 26 press conference. Imran Khan is to face a three member bench presided over by Chief Justice Iftikhar Choudary this Friday.

Warid Telecom to launch 4G LTE services in Pakistan
