The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.
Islamabad : Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a contempt of court notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan for his remarks against the court in his July 26 press conference.
Imran Khan is to face a three member bench presided over by Chief Justice Iftikhar Choudary this Friday.
Imran Khan criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan and Supreme Court for failing to address rigging allegations during recent general elections.
If charged, Imran Khan could face disqualification from the seat of parliament.
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has also been directed to produce the record of Imran Khan’s press conference before the court.
Attorney General of Pakistan is also directed to come up with relevant records related to Imran Khan’s press conference.
