Gaza: Palestinian factions, Hamas and PLO reached an
agreement to form a unity government to end seven years of rival
ship and divided administration on Wednesday, the news was welcomed around
the world and Palestinians celebrated the news in Gaza and West-bank.
The new deal drew an angry reaction from Israeli Prime Minister Baenjamin
Netanyahu, who showed his response with words as well force and Israeli war
planes immediately attacked northern Gaza Strip wounding at least six
Palestinians.
Palestinians celebrating the news of unity government |
The both rival faction agreed shortly before the strike to form a unity
government of independents within five weeks under the leadership of the West
Bank-based Palestinian president, Mahmud Abbas.
There has been no word on the agreement from Obama administration yet, which is
as usual trying to broker some peace agreement between Israel and Palestinian.
The problem with US deal is as old
as the issue itself, they (US) used to take up the issue in the last tenure of
the departing presidents, which results
in nothing but to gain more time for Israel to further extend its illegal
settlements over Palestinian territories. At least word is seeing such an
effort since Clinton era, and issue, despite of promises, either remains the
same or even worsens. The results of these talks were promising only for the
powerful (Israel) and weak (Palestinians) was further divided into different
factions.
This is not first time that Palestinians
factions has agreed to form a unity government but there were many previous
efforts which were spoiled either Palestinians themselves or some unseen
foreign hands.
