Saudi Arabia accused UN security counsel of double standards |
Riyadh : Saudi Arab has rejected its seat of non permanent membership of security counsel just a day after its selection.
Saudi Arab accused UN security counsel of double standards over Syrian issue and alleged links between U.S and Iran, which Saudi think is interfering in regional issues.
Commenting on the issue Saudi foreign ministry said that, “Work mechanisms and double-standards on the Security Council prevent it from carrying out its duties and assuming its responsibilities in keeping world peace,”
It further added that, “therefore Saudi Arabia has no other option but to turn down Security Council membership until it is reformed and given the means to accomplish its duties and assume its responsibilities in preserving the world’s peace and security,”
