US drones have killed about 2200 men including 400 civilians according to the report |
New York: United Nations has asked United States to revealed the identities of killed civilians by its drones in worldwide.
US drones are mainly operating in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, and other countries for reconnaissance and search and kill purpose.
Over the past decade study reveals that over 450 people were killed by US drones in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen.
UN is investigating a probe into killings by US drones in worldwide by assembling a committee which has been working since January and which has to see any justifications on the use of drones for killings of militants and civilians.
The investigation which was submitted by Emmerson, reported that about 2,200 people, including 400 civilians, have been killed by the US drone strikes in Pakistan during the past decade.
“[Pakistani] Officials indicated that, owing to under reporting and obstacles to effective investigation, those figures were likely to be an underestimate,” he wrote.
Another UN report warned that the use of armed drones threatens global security and encourages more states to acquire unmanned weapons.
The report, which has been submitted to UN General Assembly by Christof Heyns, the organization’s special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, summary or arbitrary executions, called for states that operate armed drones to be more transparent and publicly disclose how they use them,
