PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

VIVO, one of the world’s most popular smartphone brands will be setting up a manufacturing facility in Pakistan, Minister for Industries & Production, Hammad Azhar announced on Twitter. 

  “Intl Smart Phone Brand VIVO has decided to establish a smartphone manufacturing facility in Pak. Land purchased. Deployment of DIRBS eliminated smuggled phones. It was followed up by Mobile Manufacturing Policy. Revenues already doubled & now local manufacturing taking off,” said the tweet. 

VIVO has currently 200,000,000 users around the world and is committed to providing premium quality smartphones at a cheap price Establishing a local manufacturing unit will not only reduce costs for the company and consumers but also help in eliminating the problem of smuggled devices. 

Earlier, it was reported that tech giant Samsung is looking to set up a smartphone assembly plant in Pakistan, Federal Industries and Production Minister Hammad Azhar announced. 

 

“Smartphone production in Pakistan is multiplying following DIRBS [Device Identification Registration and Blocking System] implementation and Mobile Policy launched recently,”
he tweeted after meeting with the Samsung Pakistan MD and CEO. 

 The DIRBS allows the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to stop the use of smuggled mobile devices.
