London: The Taliban are to resume attacks against government forces, just days after signing a deal with the US aimed at bringing peace to Afghanistan.
The deal included a commitment to hold peace talks with the Afghan government.
But the group's spokesman said on Monday the talks would not go ahead if 5,000 Taliban prisoners held by the government were not released, Reported BBC News.
Pakistan warns US of 'spoilers' on US-Taliban deal in Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says Washington must be wary of actors keen on derailing the Afghan peace process, reported Aljaeera English.
"People want peace. Now it is time to see what the [Afghan] leadership does," said Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmmod Qureshi.
"Do they priorities Afghanistan's interests, or do they give their own personal benefits more importance? This is a very big decision." he further added.
The US-Taliban agreement said talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban must begin by March 10.
A sudden change in the stance came after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani rejected peace deals Prisoner swap.
