PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Federal government discards Sindh's projects from PSDP, Qaim Ali Shah


Karachi : Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has showed his concerns over the federal government's removal of 11 important projects of Sindh from upcoming Public Sector Development Programme.

Qaim Ali Shah said that he protested at the meetings of the Council of common Interests (CCI) and National Economic Council (NEC), both held in Islamabad, against the decision. 

CM said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has assured him that Sindh's grievances will be redressed.

According to Chief Minister, the schemes removed from the PSDP include Lyari Expressway, K-4 water project, S-3 project, Karachi Circular Railway, Thar coal project etc..

Qaim Ali Shah said, "When I inquired the reason, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal diverted our attention toward financial constrainsts faced by the country,"

The federal government also insisted Sindh government to give away its share of water to Islamabad which I refused, as Sindh is already suffers a lot due to its vicinity at the tail, and most of the areas in Karachi having no water, said Qaim Ali Shah.

Qaim Ali Shah further said that Dams and canals have been built to divert our water and its is not possible for us to agree such a proposal.

Shah also denied reports that provinces are agreed to cut electricity dues at the source and said that provincial governments would be taken into confidence before any such a decision.

This is first time that Sindh government has protested at any high level meeting to show its concerns over cutting of development funds and water by federal government.
