TTP Negotiator rejects talks with Pakistan under constitution

Molvi Abdul Aziz, Addressing press conference in Lal Masjid
Islamabad : One of the member of the negotiating team representing Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Moulana Abdul Aziz expressed his reservations over the dialogue by saying that he would not be part of further negotiations.

The first round of the talks ended with both sides defining the road map of the talks, but as time passes, more confusion is adding in as different parties are showing their reservations over the success of the peace talks.

Addressing the press conference, Molvi Aziz urged the government to remove the condition of holding talks under the constitution. His ideas was also backed up by Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid who also made clear that the only aim of TTP is to enforce Sharia (Islamic Law) in Pakistan.

This is first time that Taliban are talking about the enforcement of Sharia in whole Pakistan as opposed to their previous stance in which they were limited to few areas of KPK province.

After the first day of meetings, many Western diplomats became active in Pakistani capital as well as in provincial capitals as they meet with different party leaders. According to some analysts, many countries will not like that Pakistan and Taliban should talk in a scenario that US is leaving Afghanistan and there is a lot on the stake in Afghanistan esp for few neighbouring countries, instead they will try to create more differences between Taliban and Pakistan.

The Pakistani media is also active at the moment by organizing talk shows in support and against the talks and is predicting the fat of talks.

Today's press conference of Molvi Abdul Aziz added nothing but confusion to already war torn country. Molvi Abdul Aziz is Khateeb of Lal Masjid and became famous after General (Rtd) Musharaf ordered a military operation against Lal Masjid in 2007, and he was captured while fleeing in woman's clothes at that time.

He said that he would remain the part of the TTP's three-man delegation led by fellow cleric Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, but would not come to the negotiating table.

Molvi Aziz's move threatens to further undermine the talks with government, many religious parties has condemned Movli Aziz's demand as irrational and unrealistic by declaring that Pakistan is already an Islamic State and has Islamic law.

PTI leader Imran Khan has already doubted the outcome of the talks and predicted that the talks may end in a failure as he (Imran) sees that some bomb blasts may occur during the peace talks to sabotage the process and they may only succeed if US halts drone strikes also.
