PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Islamabad : Pakistan has named General Rahel Sharif as its new army chief in place of General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani who is retiring this month.

General Sharif is said to be the brother of a dead war hero, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), which also released the time less photo of new army general.

Pakistani Prime Minister's move to appoint new army general was closely watched by United States and its allies along with neighbouring countries like India, Afghanistan and China.

According to an Army think tank, the new general will largely continue the older policies of retiring army chief Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani to not interfere in Pakistani politics.

History is Made 
The retiring Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani is going to make history to retire from army as a general, Pakistan has never witnessed any general who has retired from service on the completion of his service.

Pakistan has faced three army coups and had been ruled by army more than half of her age of 66 years.

Challenges to Face 
New Army Chief is to face lot of challenges domestically as well as internationally, United States is scheduled to pull out of Afghanistan in 2014, and Pakistan's at least two provinces are facing threats from local insurgencies.
