Rejection of UN Security Counsel seat by Saudi Arabia is a Hypocrisy, Amnesty International

UN meeting in Geneva scrutinizes the human rights conditions in all the countries of world
Amnesty International has severely criticized Saudi Arabia on its poor record of human rights in the country.

In its report which was submitted before UN meeting in Geneva to scrutinize the human rights in the country it added that Saudi Arabia has, despite of promises to restore human rights intensified crack down in the country.

Philip Luther, Director of Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International said, “Saudi Arabia’s previous promises to the UN have been proven to be nothing but hot air. It relies on its political and economic clout to deter the international community from criticizing its dire human rights record,”

On the rejection of Saudi Arabian seat on the UN Security Council, in which Saudi Arabia accused the body of failing in its duties in Syria and other conflicts, Philip Luther said,

"It's highly ironic for Saudi Arabia to point out the Security Council's double standards given the complete failure to address its own appalling human rights record,"
