Petition filed against possible extension of the tenure of Chief Justice Chaudhry

Chief Justice Chaudhry was suspended by Gen (R) Musharaf up to 18 months
Lahore: `A petition against the possible 18 months extension in the tenure of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) Registry Lahore, reported ARY News.

The petition says that, "extending the tenure is a violation of the constitution and if the Government do so then it is going to open another 'Pandora Box' due to which a lot many former judges and politicians can also demand to provide them extensions."

Former dictator General (R) Pervez Musharraf had suspended CJ Chaudhry up to 18 months, during his reign.

It is unlike that Pro-Chief Justice judiciary can take any action against their current boss, and there are hundred percent chances that Nawaz govt, which is also pro-Chief Justice, will grant the extension.

Three major posts, President, Chief Justice, and Army Chief were to be filled this year, through which, Chief Justice, due to his Pro-Nawaz stance may get favor unlike other two posts which are to filled up by appropriate persons.
