EU Observers were given free access to monitor election in Pakistan
European Union Election Observation Mission Chief Michael Gahler has expressed its dissatisfaction over the 2013 elections and said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not fulfill its responsibilities with honesty during the general elections 2013, while addressing a press conference.

European Union Election Observation Mission remained in Pakistan from 3rd March to 4th June to monitor the recent general elections in Pakistan.

He claimed that all contesting candidates were not given equal right to contest the elections and there were complaints that the names of women voters were omitted from voters' lists, there were also some complaints of returning officers changing the polling staff in some constituencies before voting.

Gahler concluded that the fundamental problems remain with the legal framework and the implementation of certain provisions, leaving future processes vulnerable to malpractice.
