PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Supreme Court Moved against Dr Tahir Ul Qadri


Lahore : Barrister Zafar Ullah, chief of Jamhori Watan Party Monday filed petition in Supreme Court Lahore registry against chief of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran, Dr Tahir Qadri, from taking part in political activities and placement of his name in Exit Control List (ECL). 


The petitioner has taken the plea that Tahir ul Qadri is plotting to block upcoming general elections in connivance with MQM therefore, his name be placed in ECL.

He took the ground Tahir ul Qadri in decade of 90 had alleged that Punjab government was out to kill him. A commission was constituted under Justice Akhtar Hussain to probe into his allegation, which had declared Qadri mentally disabled. 

The petitioner further contended that foreign forces were funding Minhaj ul Quran Foundation that along with MQM was conspiring to impede the next general elections.

He also prayed the court to prevent Tahir ul Qadri from taking part in political activities by upholding Lahore High Court decision. 

The petitioner aslo submitted that Tahir ul Qadri is Canadian national therefore; court should also take notice of this matter.
