PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Army-backed firm to get 52,000 acres of Sindh’s land for farming

  KARACHI: Despite reservations and resistance from nationalist parties, the caretaker Sindh government on Friday formally entered into an agreement with an army-backed company to give it over 52,000 acres of land in six districts for corporate farming. 

Monsoon rains likely to hit Sindh again from 16 September

  The monsoon season is likely to return in the Sindh province with strong winds and heavy rainfall.  The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday predicted that monsoon winds will enter the province on September 16.  The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall in Sindh from September 16 to 18.  Furthermore, under the influence of the weather system, there is a possibility of thundershowers during the mentioned time frame. Moreover, rain is expected to lash Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Badin Sajawal, Thatta, and Jamshoro.  Besides, thunder and dusty winds are likely to prevail before the rain. Added to it, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in the upper regions of Balochistan during this time.  According to the Met Department, during this time, the intensity of the heat will increase in Karachi. During this time, the temperature is expected to record 38 to 39 degrees Celsius.

At least 7 people killed and many wounded in head-on between two Passenger coaches on Mehran Highway

Nawabshah : At least seven people died and 42 sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two passenger coaches on the Mehran Highway near Nawabshah in Sindh on Sunday, officials said. Benazirabad Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Mohammad Younis Chandio confirmed the death toll.

Karachi : Sui Southern Gas Company has announced the schedule of CNG in Sindh for the month of April.  According to the notification, CNG stations will follow the same schedule of winter to open on alternative days.

Karachi : Sui Southern Gas has announced that CNG stations in Sindh will remain close for 72 hours from 08:00 AM on Tuesday 01 January 2013 till 08:00 AM on Friday 04 January 2013 for 72 hours in this week.
