  The Islamabad High Court (IHC) fixed on Saturday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief and former prime minister Imran Khan’s bail application hearing in the missing cypher case for Monday (September 25). 

  ISLAMABAD: A special court established under the Official Secrets Act has rejected the bail pleas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and party’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case on Thursday. 

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday deferred the indictment of PTI Chairman Imran Khan till August 2 in a case pertaining to contempt of the electoral body and the chief election commissioner (CEC). 

  Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal and MQM Organisation Restoration Committee founder Dr Farooq Sattar announced on Thursday that their parties would be joining the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

  Hours after receiving a summary about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s nominations for the next army chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), President Arif Alvi touched down in Lahore for a meeting with PTI chief Imran Khan. 

  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday to discuss the “overall situation” of the country. A statement released by Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said the former president inquired about PM Shehbaz’s well-being and was thanked for his visit. It is pertinent to mention here that Shehbaz had tested positive for Covid-19 on November 15 after returning from the UK.  It was the third time the prime minister had tested positive for the virus.  The meeting between the two leaders today was held amid the process for the next army chief’s appointment.

  The summary for the discharge of incumbent army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa is yet to be issued by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) under Rule 12 of the Pakistan Army Act 1954. 

  The Supreme Court (SC) rejected on Wednesday a government request to issue a show-cause notice to PTI chief Imran Khan for allegedly flouting a May 25 order of the apex court that defined the limits for the party’s ‘Azadi March’ gathering in Islamabad and thereby committing contempt of court. 

  Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Babar Iftikhar on Tuesday said the military has requested the government to conduct a “high-level investigation” into the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya. 

  The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday presented PTI Senator Azam Swati before an Islamabad district and sessions court in a case pertaining to a tweet against state institutions, including the army chief. 

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday advised PTI lawmakers to "return to the National Assembly" as the Supreme Court (SC) gave the party another chance to prepare its case against the phase-wise acceptance of resignations from the lower house of parliament. "People have elected [PTI lawmakers] for five years.

Lahore : Former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were taken into custody by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials shortly after arriving at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport on Friday night.
