  A Pakistani court has jailed Imran Khan and his wife for seven years after voiding their marriage, in the latest sentence against the ex-prime minister. 

  On December 22, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rejected PTI's intra-party elections and deprived the party of its cricket bat symbol.  Peshawar: A high court in Pakistan on Wednesday restored the top election commission's order suspending the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's intra-party polls as void and revoking its iconic cricket bat electoral symbol, in a major blow to Imran Khan's embattled party. 

  The Supreme Court of Pakistan has approved the bail of former PTI chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case. 

  PTI leader and former minister Farrukh Habib, whose whereabouts had been unknown after his arrest from Gwadar last month, resurfaced in a press conference on Monday evening, where he announced parting ways with Imran Khan’s party. 

  The Islamabad High Court has directed to shift PTI Chairman Imran Khan from Attock to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

  Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has said Free and fair elections were possible without PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in a graft case, and his party leaders jailed following violent riots in the country on 9th May. 

  The Islamabad High Court (IHC) fixed on Saturday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief and former prime minister Imran Khan’s bail application hearing in the missing cypher case for Monday (September 25). 

  ISLAMABAD: A special court established under the Official Secrets Act has rejected the bail pleas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and party’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case on Thursday. 

  PTI Chairman Imran Khan, shortly after an Islamabad trial court declared him guilty of “corrupt practices” in the Toshakhana case, was arrested by Punjab police on Saturday afternoon from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore. 

  The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday set aside a trial court verdict that had declared the Tosh­akhana reference filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the PTI chairman as maintainable for criminal proceedings.  IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq ordered the trial court to decide the matter again after re-hearing the case. He also rejected the PTI chief’s appeal to transfer the case to another court and issued a notice for next week on a petition to restore Imran Khan’s right of defence in the Toshakhana trial. “The matter is remanded to the trial court for decision afresh,” the IHC said in a detailed order, noting that the IHC was informed that the case was fixed for final arguments in the trial court today.  “The petitioner shall ensure addressing of arguments positively on the issue when the matter is fixed by the court for final arguments. The trial court shall address the issues raised in the referred petitions while deciding the matter,” the order reads.  I

  Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Sunday “dropped” a bill aimed at curbing violent extremism after fierce opposition from lawmakers, including those from the ruling coalition. According to the agenda for today’s session, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah was supposed to table the bill titled ‘The Prevention of Violent Extremism Bill 2023’.  However, many parliamentarians, including those from the ruling coalition, opposed the bill. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday deferred the indictment of PTI Chairman Imran Khan till August 2 in a case pertaining to contempt of the electoral body and the chief election commissioner (CEC).

The PTI’s Jail Bharo Tehreek on Thursday appeared to be losing its steam as not a single leader or activist in Peshawar, the provincial capital of the party’s power hub Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, was rounded up in the city.

  A nine-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and also comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Athar Minallah, will take up the case at 11am. 

  The PTI is all set to begin its Jail Bharo Tehreek (court arrest drive) today (Wednesday) from Lahore which former prime minister Imran Khan says is aimed to counter the “attack” on the party’s fundamental rights and the economic “meltdown”.

  PTI leader Asad Umar on Thursday, in response to a press conference by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) DG Lt Gen Babar Iftikhar about former premier Imran Khan’s confrontational narrative against the military, said that his party chief never made any unconstitutional demands in “back door talks”.
