Israel-Hamas war : Hamas releases first Gaza captives amid truce

Hamas hands 13 Israeli captives in Gaza to the Red Cross, according to reports, while Thailand’s PM says 12 Thai captives also released.

At least 39 Palestinians held in Israeli jails are also expected to be released as part truce deal that includes a four-day pause in fighting.

If the agreement works today, it means it could definitely work in the following few days. What’s interesting and why we’ve been focusing so much on it while the rest of Gaza is, of course, suffering and licking its wounds is because we are showing what the alternative is to war.

This is the other side to the darkness that has befallen Gaza and somewhat of Israel over the past 50 days. The substitute is happy people in Israel, and happier people in Palestine, meeting their loved ones and trying to put their lives back together in peace.

So it’s important for us to look at this, regardless of how short and how complicated it is, and see it as what is possible and why ending this war is so important.

Because this is the alternative to war.

Israelis and Palestinians meeting their loved ones and perhaps opening the war for a serious solution to this issue, ending the occupation, ending the siege of Gaza, and especially for the Palestinians to live free of fear.
