The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken a step to facilitate users of older Apple iPhones by reducing the registration fees, aligning with the Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) recent announcement regarding tax reduction on Apple smartphones.
In response to the FBR's decision to lower taxes on Apple iPhones, the PTA has now adjusted the registration fees for older models of the iPhone, aiming to provide relief to iPhone users across the country.
The reduction in registration fees has been implemented across two distinct categories: passport-based and CNIC-based fees, catering to the diverse spectrum of iPhone users.
Under the revised fee structure, the registration fees for older iPhone models are as follows:
iPhone 8's registration fee on passport: Rs38,922
iPhone 8's registration fee on CNIC: Rs48,314
iPhone 8 Plus' registration fee on passport: Rs40,951
iPhone 8 Plus' registration fee on CNIC: Rs50,546
This initiative by the PTA comes in the wake of the FBR's efforts to encourage the import and use of Apple smartphones by reducing the tax burden on consumers.
The adjustment in registration fees for older iPhones is anticipated to provide economic relief to iPhone users who have been using these devices, contributing to a more user-friendly environment for technology enthusiasts.
Apple's commitment to compensating users for iPhone performance issues, coupled with the collective efforts of regulatory bodies like the PTA and governmental institutions such as the FBR, demonstrates the collaborative approach towards enhancing the technology landscape and promoting digital inclusivity.
As users of older iPhone models receive the benefit of reduced registration fees, this development showcases the continuous endeavor to create an environment where technology remains accessible, affordable, and conducive to innovation for all segments of the population.
