The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.
ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance has recommended an increase of 10 percent in salaries of government servants and a steep upward revision in tax rates of cigarettes to raise revenue for the national exchequer.
The Committee was Headed by Senator Farooq H Naek, has almost completed its deliberations on the Finance Bill 2020 with maximum recommendations including the revisiting of the Federal Board of Revenue annual tax collection target for 2020-21, according to media reports.
Today, it will hold an in-camera briefing to study the previous agreements governing the affairs of Gwadar Port. The committee will also review the government’s so-called construction package.
