Corona Pandemic: Lock Down in Sindh, will it work?

Chief Minister of Sindh has announced a fully lockdown in the province in contradiction to the decision of Prime Minister Imran Khan that he thinks that locking down the nation will be more dangerous than the epidemic itself.

As the Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah has been consistently making the headlines for all leading national Corona news features.

The tone of his address on the provincial situation has vividly transformed from its initial composure to one of immediate urgency; from citing only five cases of local transmission on March 16th , to a more pressing precursory warning two days later:

“If we fail to take strict measures in time it is bound to affect the entire province of Sindh…”

He cites the example of United States of America, where four states have implemented a partial or more effective system of quarantine. Currently, there has been a salient upsurge in the number of states calling for a lockdown – New York, California, Illinois, Connecticut, Louisiana, Minnesota, and New Jersey have already initiated some form of an emergency curfew.

Here are few suggestions to Sindh Govt.

  • Is Lock down for fifteen days is a good decision, do this decrease or increase the problems of poor masses.
  • What will be consequences,  if this virus is not controlled till fifteen days, how will poor masses feed than what is plan B.
  • Lockdown will hinder the demand and supply factor in the province resulting in inflation.
  • What govt will do along, do they carry out disinfection spray of Corona in the province.
  • Do they establish testing and Quarantine facilities at Tahsil Level.
It is recommended that Sindh Govt should reconsider the long term lockdown in the province rather it start process of testing and quarantine at Tahsil level. Take measures to issue lockdown warnings in short periods rather than long periods.
