Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry
Islamabad : A Pakistani citizen has written a letter to the acting president of Pakistan and sought initiation of proceedings against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the Supreme Judicial Council after accusing him of having “covert connection with the ruling PML-N”.

Shahid Orakzai said that chairman the absence of the president it was for the chairman of Senate to initiate appropriate action.

He said he would provide documentary evidence to establish various aspects of the conduct of chief justice. He said the election to the highest office of the state had “become the joke of the year”.

Even a football club in England would not elect its president in the manner the president of the country was being elected in Pakistan.

Mr Orakzai said that all the efforts of parliament to secure independence of the Election Commission of Pakistan had gone down the drain and all amendments to the constitution meant to ensure free and fair elections had practically been neutralized.

He wondered how a single voter could get the schedule for presidential elections revised, alleging that the main concern of the chief justice was the travel plans of the prime minister during Ramazan. (Resource Dawn)
