KARACHI: The Foreign Minister of United Kingdom William Hague has said that investigations against Altaf Hussain were going on impartially and Met police do not work under the influence of political government.
He said that the matter relating to MQM chief Altaf Hussain was being viewed in Pakistan minutely.
He said he had met the prime minister, interior minister, the army chief, Punjab chief minister and MPs to discuss the possibility of agreements for bilateral cooperation to explore ways for working together to counter terrorism and promote education in Pakistan.
He said this while talking to Pakistani News channel Geo News’s program ‘Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath’ reported The News.
He vindicated UK’s position of attaching priority with any Pakistani political party and wanted success for the democracy. He said they had relations with all the political parties but there were no priorities.
Answering the question on prioritizing some parties he said it was not their job to prefer one political party of a foreign country to the other.
He accepted that the MQM issue also came under discussion with ministers in Pakistan but it was a police matter and could not be interfered with politically.
Answering the question, whether it was true that the UK Foreign Office had put pressure on the BBC not to broadcast major part of its report on the issue, Hague replied that no such thing was in his knowledge
