PILDAT says Feb 8 polls record lowest fairness score since 2013

  The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report detailing its assessment of the recently-concluded general election, expressing deep concerns over a decline in fairness scores compared to previous election cycles.

Baghdad : Hundred of inmates were freed along with senior Al Qaeda members after militants attack Iraq’s Abu Gharib jail.

Hundred of militants attacked from multiple directions on Abu Gharib jail. The militants consist of different groups, suicide bombers, who drove cars packed with explosives into the gate of the prison and blasted their way into the compound, Gunmen, who attacked security guards with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades, snipers, who were shooting from top of buildings and, film makers, who captured the attack on their cameras. 

An other group of militants wearing suicide vests entered the prison to help free the inmates. 25 Iraqi soldiers were killed in the attack, as wells as 10 militants and 21 inmates. 

The same type of coordinated attack was carried out on another prison, in Taji, just to the north of Baghdad. But guards there managed to prevent any inmates from escaping.

The freed prisoners may become a source of sectarian violence in Iraq
